Timber inside, stone outside
The house is resolved as two volumes that follow the slope of the ground, articulated by a central transition module with a pergola. The structure is timber —load-bearing walls and CLT floor panels— clad in stone on the outside; the internal partitions are timber too. The whole house is set out on a 1.65 m structural grid, which gives the openings their rhythm. All roofs are flat and one of them is planted. Comfort is entrusted to the climate before the machinery: cross ventilation, thick wall sections to hold the cool, considered orientation, and solar protection from porches and Menorcan shutters. Stone floors, lime renders, exposed structure.
One single room below, the night upstairs
On the ground floor the entrance hall opens onto a single 58.84 m² room holding kitchen, living and dining. From there you reach a bathroom and a double bedroom with a dressing room, and the staircase begins. The second volume houses a 26 m² multipurpose room and the pantry. The first floor rises only over the main volume and is the sleeping area: the principal bedroom with its dressing room and private bathroom, two further double bedrooms and a full bathroom. The suite opens directly onto a terrace above the ground-floor roof. Four bedrooms and three bathrooms across 206 m² of usable area, 296 m² built. The pool measures 9.40 by 3.90 m. Air-source heat pump for hot water, photovoltaic capture and home automation. Parking sits apart, at the lower end of the plot.

Son Parc, in northern Es Mercadal
Son Parc is the developed coastal settlement of northern Es Mercadal — the municipality of Monte Toro, the island’s highest point, and of the harbour at Fornells. The plot is 1,172 m² of regular outline, still unbuilt, on a low-traffic avenue that is itself only half built. Around it, single-family houses of the same scale, each with its garden and its pool. The ground falls from east to west at an average gradient of 6.79%, and the project works with it rather than correcting it: the two volumes step down along the slope.
